2009 Family Summer Camp- July 23-27, 2009

Camp begins with dinner on Thursday, July 23rd and concludes midmorning Monday, July 27th, 2009. If you need assistance in attending, complete a personal grant application.

Activities

NOAH Summer Camp (July 23–27, 2009) is an opportunity for children with albinism and their families to share a fun filled outdoor vacation with others like them. Planned activities include:

  • paddle boating
  • fishing
  • miniature golf
  • outdoor bowling
  • arts and crafts
  • hiking
  • swimming
  • campfires

Camp is for children ages 5 and older and their parent(s).

Albinism Programming

While the camp is primarily designed for families to enjoy camp activities with one another, camp will have a bit of albinism related programming. Grouped by age, campers will attend one informational session or discussion group each full day of camp. Parents will also have group discussion options plus plenty of time for networking and informal conversation to share information and support.

Accommodations

Beacon Lodge's Children's Village has 12 air-conditioned cabins with one shared bathroom and individual storage cabinets for personal items. Each cabin accommodates 6 - 7 persons sleeping mostly in bunk beds. Please be aware that you will be sharing living space with others. This is camp, not the Hyatt Regency!

Cabin Assignments

Sharing a cabin with other children is an integral part of the camp experience. NOAH will make cabin assignments once all registrations are received. Cabins will generally be segregated by gender where children of roughly the same age will be assigned with adult counselors; younger children will be assigned to a cabin with a parent. When practical, NOAH will make every effort to assign campers wishing to stay together to the same cabin. Please note any special cabin assignment considerations and preferences on your registration form.

Registration Fees*

All attendees, regardless of age or volunteer status, will be required to pay a registration fee. This amount covers rental of the camp facility, activities, lodging, food, arts and crafts, and other supplies. Registration for each adult and the first child in each family is $315. A second child from the same family registers for $275, and each additional child registers for $250. Transportation to and from Beacon Lodge is NOT INCLUDED.

*Camp is open to current NOAH members only. Visit http://store.albinism.org to become a NOAH member or renew your membership dues today!

New Installment Plan Available!

In an effort to help families manage the cost of camp, NOAH is offering a credit card installment plan to pay camp registration costs. If you'd like to divide your registration fees into three equal MasterCard or Visa payments, simply complete the credit card payment information and check the 'Three Installments' box. NOAH will charge your credit card for one third of total charge on the date your registration is processed, the next one third on 5/23, and the final one third on 6/23.

Volunteers

NOAH is looking for people ages eighteen and older interested in participating in the camp as counselors (previous camp experience preferred). NOAH is also looking for 2 volunteer CPR certified lifeguards, and (2) registered nurse volunteers. Please remember that counselor, lifeguard, and nurse volunteers must also be paid registrants since the camp charges per attendee regardless of age. NOAH is also looking for volunteer drivers to provide rides from the train station and airport.

Camp Registration Deadline is May 23rd! Space is limited! Send your paid registration today.

Registration Confirmation

Upon receipt and processing of your registration, NOAH will mail you a transaction receipt for your records. Additionally, in the late spring, registered campers will receive a special confirmation packet (one per family) with more details about camp, suggested items to pack, more detailed schedule information, and important paperwork including medical, permission, and photo release forms.

Arrival and Departure

Given the rural location of Beacon Lodge, we understand that travel considerations play a considerable role in the time that campers are able to arrive at Beacon Lodge. NOAH will be prepared to welcome campers beginning in the early afternoon of Thursday July 23rd (after lunch). Upon arrival, campers will settle into their cabins and enjoy exploring Beacon Lodge with their parent(s). The first camp meal served will be dinner Thursday evening, followed by group activities and a traditional campfire later that evening. Campers will enjoy three full days of fun and adventure on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the final group activities concluding by late Monday morning (breakfast will be the final group meal served).
