Usage Policy

Purpose

The NOAH Albinism Online Community is intended to be a place where people of all ages can share their experiences with Albinism and ask questions about Albinism and about NOAH. The Albinism Online Community exists to promote the free exchange of ideas, opinions and information. Please feel free to express your opinions, but please keep in mind that children will be reading your post.

General Usage Guidelines

Please adhere to the following general guidelines as you post on the Albinism Online Community.

Please make subject headings as specific as possible and relevant to the forum on which you post them.

Please fully identify yourself when making a post. It is not necessary to leave your e-mail address, but it may facilitate people responding if you ask a specific a question in your post.

Please remember that all content expressed on the Albinism Online Community is the sole opinion of the person making the post. NOAH is not responsible for the accuracy of information posted on the Albinism Online Community. Every person is unique and you should always check with a medical or educational professional to verify the accuracy of information with relation to your specific circumstances.

You’re encouraged to debate topics vibrantly and share divergent opinions. However, please keep your critique focused on the opinion expressed in the post and not on the person who posted that opinion.

Official NOAH Communication

Also keep in mind that NOAH’s Albinism Online Community is NOT an official form of communication with NOAH members. NOAH members receive official notices from NOAH via post. If you wish to communicate with NOAH, please do so using NOAH’s published email, telephone, or postal address. [You’ll find contact information at www.albinism.org]

Misuse of Online Community

NOAH, at the sole discretion of the NOAH board of directors and those it designates, reserves the right to delete any post and suspend user privileges, without notice. NOAH will not redact or otherwise edit the posts on the Albinism Online Community. If a post is deemed to violate the letter or the spirit of these guidelines or the purpose of the Albinism Online Community, it will be removed.

NOAH reserves the right to delete material that:

  • Is patently libelous
  • infringes on copyright or trademark
  • Advertises a product or service or solicits money or other donations
  • Contains obscene, indecent, profane or vulgar language
  • Attacks or degrades another person or group of people on the basis of ethnicity, age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability
  • Is flagrantly irrelevant to the forum topic, the ongoing discussion, or has no relevance to albinism or NOAH.

NOAH may also remove posts and suspend user privileges for any user whose participation disrupts relevant discussion on the Albinism Online Community. Such a disruption could stem from

  • An excessive number of posts
  • Posts which are routinely irrelevant or off-topic
  • Posts that routinely insult or attack other users or otherwise have the primary effect of discouraging others from participating in the Albinism Online Community

NOAH may also remove posts and suspend user privileges for any user who

  • Enables, facilitates, or threatens illegal activity
  • Attempts to impersonate another person or entity
  • Violates or jeopardizes the privacy of other individuals
  • Attempts to harm a minor in any way
