Conference Volunteer Opportunities

Help create NOAH Magic!

SIGN-UP to be a Conference Volunteer

 

It takes dozens of people with many different talents and countless hours of work to hold a national conference for over 1000 people. NOAH relies on volunteers to make it all happen. Please take a look at these volunteer opportunities and consider helping to create NOAH Magic!

NOTE: Financial incentives are available for specified volunteer opportunities in the Kid’s Conference. See the Kid’s Conference section below for more information.

If you have a little time to give, here are some great options.

  • Session moderator
  • Registration preparation
  • Registration check in
  • Silent auction and raffle

Here is what you can do if you have more time to give. Are you:

  • A committed extended family member, doting aunt, cool cousin, proud grandma?
  • An experienced daycare professional? An experienced teacher?
  • An experienced early intervention specialist?
  • An adult with albinism who loves to work with kids or teens?
  • A parent who always volunteers to go on field trips?
  • A college student studying education?

If so, please consider volunteering for one of the kids’ programs. All volunteers working with children will be vetted and required to attend an orientation session on Thursday around 5 PM.

Crew Leaders**

All Youth Programs – 1st Grade through the Tween / Teens Programs – need Crew Leaders:  8:30 AM – 3:30 PM Friday and Saturday Crew leaders chaperone groups of kids through a series of activities. An assistant will be assigned to crews made up of younger children. Using materials provided, leaders will facilitate short activities with their crews at the beginning and end of the day each day. Crew Leaders for Grades 1st – 6th must be at least 17 years old. Crew Leaders for Grades 7th – 9th must be at least 18 years old. Crew Leaders for Grades 10th – 12th must be at least 21 years old.

Assistant Crew Leaders

Responsible teens and college students help man- age groups of younger children through engaging activities. Assistant crew leaders will be paired with seasoned volunteer crew leaders. Assistant Crew Leaders for Grades 1st – 6th must be at least 17 years old. Assistant Crew Leaders for Grades 7th – 9th must be at least 18 years old. Assistant Crew Leaders for Grades 10th – 12th must be at least 21 years old.

Chaperones

Jitterbugs and Big Band Groups: Grades 7 – 12 A program of adventure and exploration of Kansas City, providing entertaining, engaging activities for teens and pre-teens, complete with a teen “hang out.” Volunteers are needed to monitor the teen room in the evening on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Volunteers are also needed to chaperone off-site lunches on Saturday for 5th and 6th graders of the Bepop Group.

Tour Group Leaders

On Thursday afternoon and Friday evening, volunteers will direct those on optional trips and tours to transportation and make sure everyone gets where they need to be.

Videographers

NOAH needs videographers to record some conference sessions and to live stream parts of the conference. Live streamed sessions include the all-day Low Vision Driving workshop on July 12th.

**Registration Fee Rebates Available for Crew Leader and Assistant Crew Leader Volunteers!

Can you volunteer to be a Crew Leader or Assistant Crew Leader for one or both days of the conference?  If so, you are eligible for the following registration fee refunds. In the event of a surplus of volunteers, two day volunteers are given preference over one day volunteers.

One day volunteers (Friday or Saturday) – $85 Registration Fee Refund

Two day volunteers (Friday and Saturday) – Full Registration Fee Refund
